3 million people homeless, the Presidential Palace in ruins, people trapped in a collapsed hospital. My God.

World Vision Canada is accepting donations here.
Update: as sure as the night follows the day, a humanitarian catastrophe will be follows by an unbelievably stupid, offensive and sick comment by this jackass.
Robertson represents the worst of humanity. Groups like CARE and the Red Cross, also accepting donations to help the people of Haiti, represent the best.
Update II: Canadians can donate to relief efforts by the Salvation Army via text message. A wonderful idea.
“…unbelievably stupid, offensive and sick comment by this jackass.”
Pat Robertson’s just saying what a lot of people, unfortunately, believe. And it isn’t just wacky right-wing fundamentalist preachers who engage in blaming the victim, either.
For example, Robertson and Jerry Falwell were joined by many on the Left in blaming 9/11 on the victims. One of the most notorious examples was Ward Churchill’s “little Eichmanns” essay:
“If there was a better, more effective, or in fact any other way of visiting some penalty befitting their participation upon the little Eichmanns inhabiting the sterile sanctuary of the twin towers, I’d really be interested in hearing about it.” http://www.kersplebedeb.com/mystuff/s11/churchill.html
“When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?” — Danny Glover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ft5JkNWJA&feature=player_embedded
Gaia is angry!
I wanted to pass on some info that readers may find useful.
I don’t have an active blog anymore, but at the risk of being seen as spamming, I’m posting this link in the comments on blogs that I visit that have posts re: Haiti:

Anyone reading this who has a blog will hopefully consider posting this link. Among other things, it gives info on which charities are on the up-and-up. Unfortunately, there are reports of scams involving fake charities out there. The last thing anyone would want is to have their donation go to some criminal.
